Geneva is the cultural capital of Switzerland (the political capital is Bern). An elegant city that sits beside beautiful Lake Geneva, its clean, orderly streets are lined with interesting museums, sophisticated restaurants and a variety of stylish shops and cafés. The Roman-Gothic architecture of Cathedral St Pierre is at its centre and Jet d’Eau, the world’s tallest fountain, is further down by the lake. Geneva is a magical city where you can walk along gorgeous lakeside promenades, discover historic streets and be enchanted by spectacular mountain scenery, all while enjoying beautiful handmade Swiss chocolates for which the country is famous for the world over.
Legend has it that an angel with a light led settlers to Lucerne to build their chapel. Indeed, many visitors have described this pretty town as heavenly. Sitting on the banks of a beautiful lake and surrounded by mountains steeped in mystery and mythology, it was once a picture postcard fishing village with its own wooden Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge). Every trip to Lucerne is simply unforgettable.
